In 2019 I took my daughter to our 1st Black girl fest, joined by my fellow CO founder of People Dem Collective Vic. We walked around the space floating on pure Black and Brown women’s energy, it was next level.
Absorbing the creativity, care and knowledge in the space was electric. After a talk, a shop, some food we walked passed the stall of Kim Dave.
I couldn’t budge another step, 1st my eyes met with the print of the fabric, then the bad boy cut and architecture of the full length skirt. I walked over to touch it and was struck with the weight of the fabric and the quality of the build, I had to try it on….. SOLD!
I had never seen the structure of this design before, Miss Dave makes some serious garms.
This year, when I was asked if I would do a shoot for International Women’s Day, I was asked to bring my own outfit that showed the power of women.
Now let me tell you I have some seriously ridiculous clobber to choose from, but the Kim Dave suit was the one.
