All Sewn Up

Exploring my identity through textiles has always been a preasious task for me.
Teaching my self how to sew with a machine I had borrowed from work was always challenging but I done my best.

My first London Afro Punk experience was Ridiculously fulfilling for me.
I spoke to everyone & bought everything. I had never seen so much authentic Black beauty in one space (excluding Nottinghill Carnival).
I remember seeing this dope playsuit on an empress of empresses I snapped it in my mind and dressed it with my baddest trainers (of the time) putting a little individual hip hop estate edge on it.

The next week I searched and found an image.
With the help of @islandgirl I made the playsuit… And then a skirt and then another skirt all with matching head wraps.
I can not tell you how connected to my ansetors, formidable & striking I feel when I wear them. Married with my own individual street, classic hood, on trend, very unique additions I rock up well in these looks.

Learning sewing techniques is something I’m definitely gona do more of.
Reserching my Roma Traveller culture & heritage through textiles is next.
