My experience with the NHS, private medical practice, friends, family, colleges and partners has been pretty f*cking horrific, when it comes to my maternal health care.
For 30 years I have put up and shut up with the “treatment” & ‘advice’ the “experts” gave me, until the next time I needed medical care.
The pressure to clap for the rainbow has been a challenge. To be grateful to a service that is inherently racist, has lacked in my care plan, completion of treatment, and single handedly taken away my natural ability to give birth.
I have felt like I had to be grateful for all of the above, how dare I question the great gods of the NHS. Fast forward 30 years I now know each experience to be fueled by systemic racism, micro-invalidations and lack of education.
Holistic therapy helpin`
The recent global social awakening to systemic racism has given me a platform of truth. For the first time in my life I feel I have the language and an understanding of what I have experienced.
This section of my site will help, support and inform myself and others, and will lift the curtain on how Black and Brown women and in fact men are treated within maternity health.
It’s gonna be challenging for everyone, so buckle up… in order to make positive, effective non performative change we must listen to those with lived experience.
